Gaji Mercantile Acquires Bharat Wire Ropes for Rs 200 Cr

Gaji Mercantile Pvt. Ltd has acquired Bharat Wire Ropes Ltd for Rs.200 Cr.

This acquisition helps Gaji to enter into the manufacturing business.

Bharat Wire Ropes, promoted by Sunderji Shah & Devchand Shah is the second largest manufacturer of wires in India after Usha Martin Ltd.

The wire ropes manufactured by Bharat Wire are used in various industries like oil & gas, shipping, mining, railways, electrical transmission etc. The firm's clients list includes both in the government and private sectors such as the Army, Navy, Airforce, Railways, Port Trusts, Electricity Boards and PSUs like BHEL, NTPC, ONGC, BEML, and others and enjoys a monopoly in some of its product range, especially for the railways.

The company reported a turnover of Rs.90 Cr for 2009-10 with a CAGR of 23% in the past three years. Its oder book position is around Rs.100 Cr.

Gaji Mercantile is an SPV formed by three first generation entrepreneurs mainly for the purpose of this acquisition.

Gaji is also planning to invest Rs.500 Cr on a greenfield project.

Singhi Advisors were the sole advisors to the transaction.

Radio frequency (RF) cables manufacturer, Shilpi Cable Technologies Limited (SCTL) has filed DRHP with SEBI to raise Rs.55.87 Cr.

It will use the IPO proceeds to set-up a wire and cable assembly shop, expand its product portfolio and manufacture cables for 3G networks. It will also manufacture low voltage power cables and cable accessories.

D and A Financial Services is the sole book running lead manager for the issue.
